Artisan Cafe Experience
Savor homemade bread and artisanal coffee in the heart of Manali.

Our Cafe Story
Bread of Life is located in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, along the old road to Kullu, in a peaceful little village called Shaminala.
That’s where it all began — in January 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic — when our community was in lockdown and access to many foods was limited. We started baking bread and simple cakes at home, sharing them with our neighbors and friends.
As more people began requesting our products, we felt led to open a small bakery where we could offer our bread more easily. It was then that our friend Bob, from Kilta Coffee Co., encouraged us to add coffee to the menu. We accepted the challenge… and that’s how our café began.

Artisanal Cafe Experience
Since then, we’ve become the only South American bakery in the region, offering authentic flavors and traditional recipes from across South America.
Alongside our baked goods, we also serve one of the most delicious coffees — carefully brewed and served with care — provided by our friends at Kilta Coffee Co

Fresh Bread – daily!
Our breads — including focaccia, baguette, ciabatta, and multigrain loaf — are all made with sourdough, giving them a richer flavor, rustic texture, and natural fermentation that makes them both unique and healthier
🌍 Our Journey
One day, a visitor noticed the Bread of Life sign. Curious, he stepped in, tasted our products, and was so delighted he texted his friends:
“Tucked away from the hustles of town, Bread of Life Manali offers a serene escape for anyone in search of delicious baked goods… great hospitality.”
Another friend added:
“For coffee lovers, you can find the most amazing coffee down here, and the lemon pie is soooo good! I’d also recommend the sourdough breads… the place smells like a bakery in France!”
And a third friend shared:
“My favourite place for cheesecakes in Manali. Probably the best. Juan, Maria, and Sammy, their son, are lovely! They are so welcoming and sweet.”

These reflections capture what Bread of Life has become:
• A serene and welcoming atmosphere
• High-quality sourdough breads
• Delicious coffee and desserts
• Genuine, heartfelt hospitality
That moment was just the beginning of a journey filled with connection:
Travelers who made Bread of Life a must-stop, neighbors who became regulars, and friends who found in this place a second home.
Each step has been guided by faith, hard work, and the belief that bread and coffee can be more than just food — they can be a way to offer comfort, build community, and share a little hope.
Today, Bread of Life is a special place for both locals and travelers — a space where the smell of fresh bread, a warm cup of coffee, and a genuine smile create moments that people remember and carry with them.

Okay… wow. This coffee? Life-changing. Like, if hope was a drink, this would be it. I tried the lemon pie, carrot cake, chocolate brownie, and alfrazo… were they amazing? Not exactly. But you know what? The coffee made me forget. 5 stars. Because sometimes, it’s about the one thing done perfectly.

There are places you go to eat, and then there are places that feel like they were whispered into existence by angels who just really understand carbs and caffeine. Bread of Life Café is the latter. Let’s start with the sourdough. Honestly, calling it “bread” feels like an understatement. It’s a crusty, golden hug from the heavens—perfectly tangy, with that chewy, airy magic only the truly gifted can pull off. Whoever is behind that dough is not just a baker—they’re a soul whisperer, turning flour and water into something that warms you from the inside out. If angels wore aprons, I imagine they’d be in that kitchen. And then there’s Natasha—the Barista with the kind of coffee brewing skills that could start a cult following. Every cup she makes feels like it was made just for you. There’s grace in her craft and warmth in her presence. She’s not just part of the café—she is the café. The espresso sings under her touch, the pour-over is poetry. She’s the star that makes this cozy little universe glow. If you haven’t been to Bread of Life yet, go. Your tastebuds and your heart will thank you.

Visited this place while I was on a school trip and it was a delight. Wanted to take some pie for back home, but was getting late and couldn't get it. But you'll love the place, it's a must visit if you're nearby, and carrot cake is must try.

Bread of Life is a quaint cozy ecletic coffee and gastronimically charged bistro with super sweet and humble soul food providers . Away from the frenzy and hustle bustle of the commercial main Bazaar it serves up a delectable fair of high quality bakery items with amazing coffee. Do make it convenient to stop over at this homely cafe on your way to Naggar Castle and treat yourself to real soul bakery food. Gratitude to the Owners and Staff. Best Wishes Always.

Bread of Light is truly a gem! They have the best brownie in Manali—rich, indulgent, and absolutely perfect. If you're ever in Manali, make sure to carve out some time to visit Bread of Life Café. This charming spot is hands down one of the best places we had desserts in the area. Their menu is filled with mouthwatering options like cheesecake, lemon pie, apple pie, walnut cake, freshly baked bread, and so much more. Honestly, the only challenge here is trying to stick to your calorie count—it's impossible when everything is this good! The hospitality is top-notch, with the lovely abuelitas pouring their heart and soul into everything they make. The warmth they bring to the café really makes you feel like you're part of the community. We even had a portion of cheese with us, and the owner was kind enough to toast it for us on their delicious multigrain bread. It was a simple gesture, but it made our experience even more memorable. Though we were too busy devouring the dishes to take any photos, I can assure you, everything was so good we had to come back twice—this was the only place in Manali where we ate twice times after our trek. If you're in the vicinity, I highly recommend visiting this gem of a café. You won't regret it!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful bakery in Manali. I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the delightful experience I had. During our visit, I had the opportunity to taste various items on the menu such as the alfajores and the mushroom empanadas which were delicious! We also picked up the focaccia to go and I polished it the next day along with scrambled eggs for breakfast. A special mention for the apple pie, and I must say, it was absolutely divine. My boyfriend said it was the best apple pie he’s ever eaten in his life! It truly was one of the highlights of our trip to Manali. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Being a vegan, this is one of the rare places that has a good variety of cakes and desserts. They also made a vegan apple pie on request. The host are warm and friendly. Definitely recommend a visit. Update: Came back here after a year and nothing has changed. The focaccia here is the best I have had so far (i sampled so many at different places). The cakes are still yumm and the ambience is still the best.

The bread and cakes are delicious, the portions are appropriate and the price is very reasonable. My favorites are lemon pie and alfajores. To accompany selling rich tea and a hot drink that is from South America called Mate. As a Chilean I loved eating here because they reminded me of my favorite flavors. Maria, Juan and the people who work here are very warm and nice people. Thanks a lot

Geweldige cafe gelegenheid met een mooi uitzicht, ontzettend genoten van de lemon pie. Ook de koffie hier is van uitstekende klasse. Al met al een 10/10 ervaring!

The cafe is just down the road from our accommodation so decided to check out the coffee. But once inside and saw the food we tried some snacks also. The coffee is probably the best coffee we’ve had for a long time, better than most coffee snobby places in out home town in Australia. The food was perfect, exactly what we felt like, fresh and delicious. The cafe was clean well presented and the staff were wonderful, so helpful and kind. We will be back tomorrow, thank you.

A south american bakery run by really warm people, I enjoyed coffee and their apple and lemon pie

We were greeted by two lovely gentlemen, Juan Carlos and Jeremy. They had the most welcoming and warm vibe. The place is a quaint little cafe serving sandwiches (try the nonveg one OMG!) as well as bakery items. They make their own south american sauce and it was a whole burst of flavours that gives the sandwich it's oomph factor. The bread is also extremely fresh and the carrot cake is absolutely delicious! If you're looking for yummy food, a great conversation and a good vibe this is a must try!

Best Cafe in Manali. Hot dogs, apple pies and strawberry shakes. First of all, only place for an original Hot Dog in manali WOW. Second of all, Apple Pie is the best in India. As it should be, best crumble pastry, amazing sauce and fresh apples, and third but not last, the Strawberry Shake , fresh strawberries, cream, ice cream, it was the tastiest I have had. 6 stars to this cafe. And last but not least, the owner and his wife, are incredible people and very humble kind and loving. Best place in Manali.

We came across this amazing place on our way back from our hotel in Shuru manali one late evening. That's the best thing about traveling..you never know what's next in store. I hadn't noticed the South American bakery at first but my husband did. And I am super glad that he did cz believe me had one of my best moments in Manali was interacting with this kindest and sweetest Bolivian lady. She is a gem of a person! Even though it was closed she served us with this lovely refreshing lemon soda and her amazing empanadas and cunape. We carried with us these lovely cakes banana, zucchini and chocolate. And I still can't forget the taste of these cakes. I have never had a banana cake that tasty. Thank you ma'am for this experience. Hope someday I could join your baking classes.. do let me know if you take them online too. If we ever travel there again we would definitely wanna have your coffee. You made our day that day and I will always remember it. God bless you ma'am
